Synthetic Urine Belt vs Leg Strap (Which Is Better?)

A comparison image of synthetic urine belt and leg strap

Synthetic urine belts and leg straps are both devices that can be worn to pass a drug test, but which is better?

After months of research, I decided to give them both a try and see for myself.

This article will explain everything you need to know about using a leg strap or a synthetic urine belt in a urine drug test to see which one is a better option.

Quick Summary

  • If you have a bottle of urine strapped to your thigh, it will be harder for the person testing you to find it.
  • The synthetic urine belt contains everything you need to pass your test, including fake pee.
  • The synthetic leg strap keeps the sample near your body, allowing its heat to be drawn from you.

What is a Leg Strap?

An image of leg strap with container

A leg strap is a fabric band or pouch that goes around your leg to secure a urine bottle comfortably.

One thing to look for in leg straps is dependable material. This is important because you don’t want the strap to break when you’re in the middle of giving a urine sample for a job or legal requirement.

Pros of a Leg Strap

After taking it for a test run, I discovered that leg straps are comfortable and easy to use. Here are some of the advantages of using a leg strap:

  • They are more affordable: Leg straps are less complex than synthetic urine belts. This means they are less expensive to make, making them cheaper for you to purchase.
  • They are more adjustable: Leg straps are also adjustable so that you can make them fit better. This is useful if you have a smaller frame like mine.

Cons of a Leg Strap

Here are some of the disadvantages that I found in leg straps:

  • They are less secure than synthetic urine belts: The velcro closures on leg straps are much easier to break out of than synthetic urine belts. This can cause issues if you use it in a urine test for jobs with high security, like the military, law enforcement, security, or air traffic control.
  • They are less discreet when you have the container on: When you have the container on, it is a bit visible unless you wear long pants. If you wear shorts, it would be more noticeable that you are attempting to hide something.

Who Should Use Leg Straps?

A person inserting a bottle in the leg strapPeople who will be subjected to unsupervised drug tests should use leg straps.

The problem is that you can’t tell whether or not the technician will supervise the test. If the lab technician is looking over your shoulder as you fill the cup, you won’t be able to get to your bottle from your thigh pocket.

On the other hand, you can use leg straps for other purposes, such as keeping your pants up or holding a water bottle.

So, if you need a versatile product, leg straps may be the right choice.

What Is a Synthetic Urine Belt?

A synthetic urine belt is a device that wraps around your waist and has a bladder designed to look like a part of your body.

A synthetic urine belt includes everything you’ll need to conceal your synthetic urine, including:

  • Empty Vinyl Medical Grade Bag
  • Medical Grade Syringe
  • One Sticky Heat Pad
  • Set of instructions

Here are some of the advantages of using a synthetic urine belt:

  • It is more comfortable than leg straps: Synthetic urine belts are worn around the waist, which doesn’t put any pressure on your leg. This makes it more comfortable to wear the whole time.
  • It is easier to clean than leg straps: The synthetic urine belt is made of fabric that is easier to clean than the single piece of material that a leg strap is made of.
  • It is more discreet than leg straps: The synthetic urine belt is designed to look like a fanny pack and be worn on the back. This makes it more discreet than wearing a synthetic urine leg strap.

Cons of a Synthetic Urine Belt

Here are a few disadvantages of using a synthetic urine belt:

  • It is more expensive than leg straps: Synthetic urine belts are more expensive than leg straps because of the design and materials used to make them.
  • It may leak: It may leak if you don’t tighten the synthetic urine belt correctly. Make sure to follow the instructions carefully.

Who Should Use Synthetic Urine Belt?

PeopleA person wearing a synthetic urine belt who are subject to supervised urine testing should use synthetic urine.

This synthetic belt is silent, and you can comfortably fill the cup without making abnormal sounds or unnecessary fidgeting.

The synthetic urine belt comes with fake pee, and you don’t have to worry about anything, such as purchasing fake urine elsewhere. Make sure that the synthetic urine belt is fitted securely to your body and that you use natural movements when you use it.

Other Factors to Consider While Hiding Urine

Before you try to hide your urine for your drug test, there are a few factors you need to consider:

Size of the Urine Bottle

The container must be able to hold the minimum amount of fluid while still being inconspicuous on your body.

You must also be capable of emptying the bottle with minimal effort and no delays.

The capacity of urine bottles certified by the International Standards Organization is from 1 to 3 oz [1].

Weight of the Urine Kit

You should choose a kit that is light and comfortable to wear. If your kit is too heavy, it might fall out or become loose, which may be inconvenient if the lab assistant pays attention to you closely.

A heavy kit might also restrict your movement, make filling your specimen cup difficult, and raise the risk of spilling.

The Way to Heat the Urine

A heating pad is one of the most efficient methods to maintain your sample at the correct temperature.

They are simple to use and can last for around eight hours, long enough to raise the temperature before sampling.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to put the heating pad away from your thighs to avoid discomfort and that your urine is heated to 90-100 degrees Fahrenheit.

“Synthetic urine needs to be carefully blended, so it has a comparable mass and composition to the real stuff – and crucially, it needs to be delivered at body heat.”
Cansford Laboratories

The only case where you can consider disregarding the heat pad is with the synthetic leg strap because the sample stays warm due to your body heat.

However, it might be tough to keep your sample warm in the winter while taking a drug test. When I tried it without a heating pad, the sample cooled down because the weather was very chilly.

As for the synthetic belt, remember not to microwave it. Instead, heat up your synthetic urine first and then put it in the bag.

What You Are Wearing

Wearing baggy clothes is the greatest approach to hiding a container. I also recommend that your clothes have zippers or pockets for easy access; it made my experience more manageable.

Which One Is Better: The Leg Strap or Synthetic Urine Belt?

The choice comes down to what you need. A synthetic urine belt is an excellent option if you’re looking for an easy and discreet way to hide your urine. The leg strap may be a better option if you’re looking for a more natural way to maintain your sample’s temperature.
