PreScreen Plus Mini with two people at the background

I’ve been reviewing and using home test kits for years. A home drug test kit can help you establish if you’re clean before the test, or you can use it to check someone else in your household.

I recently tried the PreScreen Plus Mini, so I’ll explain how it worked for me. I’ll talk about its pros and cons, and most importantly, whether it is trustworthy.

Here’s my PreScreen Plus Mini review.

What is PreScreen Plus Mini?

PreScreen Plus Mini with two people at the backgroundPreScreen Plus Mini is a home drug test kit.

This means you can use this product in the comfort of your own home, and there’s no need to let anyone know your results.

This way, you’ll know what result to expect if you have to do a work drug test and if you need to figure out another plan for taking the drug test.

Or, you can use it to test another member of your household if you suspect they’ve been using drugs or are untrustworthy.

Benefits

There are the biggest highlights of PreScreen Plus Mini.

1. Tests for 12 Drugs

PreScreen Plus Mini is a 12-panel home drug test kit. This means it can detect the presence of 12 drugs, which is more than the normal random urinalysis.

The drugs it can detect include:

  • Variation of Drugs top viewAmphetamine
  • Barbiturates
  • Benzodiazepines
  • Buprenorphine
  • Cocaine
  • Ecstasy
  • Fentanyl
  • K2/Spice
  • Marijuana
  • Methadone
  • Methamphetamine
  • Morphine
  • Opiates
  • Oxycodone
  • Phencyclidine
  • Tricyclic Antidepressants
  • Propoxyphene

2. Ease of Use

As with any drug kit, it’s important to follow the instructions carefully; otherwise, you’ll get an invalid result. Luckily, PreScreen Plus Mini is very easy to use.

Here’s how I used this drug test kit:

  • Open the foil bag and remove the test cup and gloves.
  • Remove the lid and fill the cup with 30ml to 110 ml of urine.
  • In case you’re collecting urine from someone else, check that the temperature is between 90 and 110 degrees.

I didn’t have any issues interpreting the results, thanks to the diagram on the cup. I could see the results after 10 minutes of filling the cup.

There’s a control region C and a test Region T. A line will be visible in both regions if you get a negative result. If only one line appears in the control region, you have a positive result.

The test is invalid if there’s no line in the control region.

3. Accuracy

A doctor using a syringeThe manufacturer says PreScreen Plus Mini has 99% accuracy, and I agree. I used this drug test kit several times and compared it to lab results, which were accurate each time.

I found PreScreen to be able to detect even the smallest traces of prohibited substances.

I also liked that it’s FDA-cleared and CLIA waived, which means it passed strict criteria and regulations.

Pros:

  • FDA-cleared
  • 18 months shelf life
  • 99% accuracy
  • Can detect 12 drugs

Cons:

  • Package has only one test strip

Custom Rating Criteria:

  • Accuracy 5/5
  • Ease of use 5/5
  • Price 4/5

Shortfalls

Price

The biggest shortfall PreScreen Plus Mini has is its price. Actually, the price itself isn’t the issue so much, but the fact that you get only one test strip in the package. This means this drug test kit can only be used once.

Several other drug test kits can be used several times, which makes PreScreen more expensive than the competition.

However, considering how effective it is, the price was worth it for me.

Comparison to Other Drug Test Kits

A top view of a drug test kitPreScreen can test for the presence of 12 drugs. Easy@Home can test for five popular drugs. Care Check also checks for 12 drugs, and Areta can check for up to 14.

Both Ease@Home and Care Check can be used five times — you get 5 drug test cups in one package. On the other hand, PreScreen Plus Mini and Arate can only be used once.

As for the price, Easy@Home is the most affordable, at around $13. Care Check is around $30, Areta is priced at $24, and PreScreen costs around $25.
