Authorities in Sumter arrested two men after uncovering a stockpile of drugs, guns, and cash during a search on Brand Street earlier this month.
The raid, carried out on October 9 by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Sumter Police Department, and the FBI’s Columbia Bureau, turned up roughly eight pounds of marijuana, a kilogram of cocaine, 62 grams of crack cocaine, 135 grams of methamphetamine, two firearms, and about $5,600 in cash.
Officers arrested Perry Sherrod Taft, 65, and Marquis Quintell Durant, 37, at the scene.
Taft faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, trafficking crack cocaine, and trafficking cocaine.
Durant is charged with trafficking cocaine, trafficking crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a machine gun, and two counts of felon in possession of a firearm.
Investigators say the operation was part of a broader push to curb drug activity across the county.
