Self Check Multi Drug Test (2023 Review) Read Before You Buy
If you have to do a lab test for work purposes or want to test a family member, you may wonder if Self Check Drug Test can help you.
I’ve been using home drug tests for a decade. Today I’ll talk about my experience using the Self Check Multi Drug Test, as well as other people’s reviews.
What is a Self Check Multi Drug Test?
Self Check Multi is a drug test that can be used in the comfort of your home. All you need to perform the test is a urine sample.
This is a multi-drug test, which means it screens urine samples for the presence of several drugs.
The test is manufactured by 1st Health Products Ltd, which was acquired by JR Biomedical Ltd in 1028.
The company makes a range of self-test medical test kits for most commonly abused drugs.
Apart from providing drug testing in the customer’s home, they offer screening programs in a range of employment sectors, such as public transport, road transport, educational establishments, and more.
Self Check Test Benefits
The Self Check Multi Test has several benefits.
1.) Detects Several Drugs
The company claims Self Check can detect the presence of 6 drugs, which I found to be true.
The drugs are the most commonly used ones, such as:
- Cocaine
- Amphetamine
- Cannabis (THC)
- Methamphetamine (Ecstacy/mAMP)
- Opiates (heroin)
- Benzodiazepines
2.) Ease of Use
According to the official website, the Self Check test is much easier to use compared to laboratory tests, and I agree.
The package contains:
- 6 test strips
- 1 desiccant
- Instructions for understanding test results
A small urine sample is enough to check for drug use.
I didn’t have any issues performing the test. Anyone can do it, as there’s no need for laboratory testing or any third-party help.
It’s a one-step test, and there’s no need to limit food or liquid intake before drug testing. The test can be performed at any time of day or night.
3.) Clear Instructions
The test comes with clear instructions, and it’s easy to read the results:
- Positive — 1 line next to the C in the test window.
- Negative — 2 lines in the test window.
- Invalid — 1 line next to the T in the test window, or there aren’t any lines.
4.) Easy to Discard Of
The packaging says you can dispose of all the test components in the normal household waste once you’ve done the test.
I did so with several Self Check drug tests that I used, and I didn’t have any issues.
I also liked that the instruction leaflet and carton are recyclable.
Pros:
- Easy to dispose of
- Visual result is easy to read
- Long expiration date
- Tests for 6 commonly abused drugs
My Rating of Self Check Home Drug Test Kits
- Clear instructions 5/5
- Substance abuse detection 3/5
- Ease of use 5/5
Self Check Drug Tests Shortfalls
When using this test, I also found some shortcomings.
-
Test Accuracy
When you’re testing for drug abuse, the most important thing is how accurate the test is. The company claims Self Check has 99% accuracy, which I don’t think is true.
When I tried the test, it was positive for the presence of an illegal drug, but the lab result was negative.
I also found other users to have had the same experience.
Another thing I wasn’t a fan of is that if the test is positive, it only indicates the presence of drugs and not the level of intoxication, administration route, or concentration level.
Essentially, the positive result is only indicative and not foolproof, so you’ll need professional advice.
Cons:
- Long shipping time
- Not always reliable results
Comparison to Other Home Drug Test Kits
Here’s how Self Check compares to other home tests.
Self Check can detect up to 6 illegal drugs, such as marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, and more, which puts it in the middle compared to other popular tests.
PreScreen Plus Mini and Easy@Home can detect 12 drugs, while Care Check only has a positive result if there are traces of marijuana.
Also, PreScreen Plus Mini, Easy@Home, and Care Check are all FDA-approved, while Self Check isn’t.
