A New Jersey corrections officer, who argued that allergy medication led to his failed drug test, has been denied his appeal to reclaim his job.

On July 11, the New Jersey Appellate Division upheld the dismissal of Robert McCauley, a former senior correctional police officer at the now-defunct Southern State Correctional Facility.

Despite McCauley’s defense, the court ruled that the circumstances surrounding his drug test failure did not warrant reinstating his position.
