Clear Choice Hair Follicle Shampoo Review (2023 Update)

The Clear Choice Follicle Hair Shampoo beside a woman with flowing hair

Many people turn to the best hair follicle detox shampoo on the market when they want to pass a hair follicle drug test.

Clear Choice hair follicle shampoo has been getting a lot of positive reviews recently, which is why I decided to do my test.

I’ve used and reviewed countless hair follicle detox shampoos, and today I’ll talk about my experience using the Clear Choice shampoo, so you can decide if this is the right detox shampoo for you.

What is Clear Choice Hair Follicle Shampoo?

Clear Choice is a hair detox shampoo, and it is claimed to help pass a hair follicles drug test. It’s different from regular shampoo as it gets rid of the toxins in the hair shaft.

Clear Choice goes inside the hair cuticles and removes toxins and drug residues.

The company behind the Clear Choice hair detox shampoo manufactures other detoxifying products, such as artificial urine and detoxifiers for passing urine drug tests.

Highlights

I’ve tried this shampoo myself. These are the most significant benefits I found.

1. Ingredients

Clear Choice Shampoo on gray background Clear Choice detox shampoo has several ingredients that are commonly found in personal care products, such as:

  • Cocamide MEA
  • Cocamidopropyl Betaine
  • Methylchloroisothiazolinone
  • Methylisothiazolinone
  • Sodium Chloride
  • Sodium Laureth Sulfate
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate

All of these work together to clean the hair follicles of toxins.

Some ingredients are scientifically proven to be effective in passing a hair drug test.

Citric Acid

Citric acid is found in citrus fruits, such as lemons and limes, and gives them a sour taste. It’s also used in home cleaning products and nutritional supplements.

A team of scientists found that drug tests adulterated by household cleaning products containing citric acid resulted in false-negative results. The citric acid made the cannabinoids undetectable [1]. Another study also found that citric acid can help pass an oral drug test [2].

Cocamide MEA

Cocamide MEA is derived from the fatty acids of coconut oil, a common ingredient of personal care products, especially bath soaps, and shampoos.

It increases the foaming capacity and stabilizes the foam. It’s used in hair detox shampoos because it can penetrate the levels of hair strands, so the hair can be cleaned of toxins to help pass a drug test.

2. Ease of Use

Compared to some other shampoos, Clear Choice hair follicle shampoo is very easy to use to pass a hair drug test.

The package contains two oz bottles of shampoo and a purifier, which must be used one after the other.

I didn’t have any problems following the instructions:

  • Close up image of combing a hair Use a clean comb to comb the hair before using the shampoo on wet hair.
  • When putting the shampoo on wet hair, use the entire shampoo bottle. Make sure to massage thoroughly for 5 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
  • Use the entire purifier bottle. Thoroughly massage again and leave for 15 minutes. You can put on a shower cap during this time. Rinse with warm water.
  • Don’t blow-dry your hair; dry it with a clean towel. Don’t use an old towel as it may contain drug toxins.
  • Submit hair follicle samples within 8 hours.

If you can, use the Clear Choice hair follicle shampoo right before the hair drug test because the coating is stronger. Also, stop using drugs at least 48 hours before the hair follicle test.

Clean Choice Shampoo Pros

  • Affordable
  • Lasts for 8 hours
  • Easy to use
  • Works for light smokers

Shortfalls

I also found this hair cleanser to have some significant cons.

1. Effectiveness

Woman using shampoo in her showerWhen choosing a shampoo for a hair follicle drug test, its effectiveness is the most important. Unfortunately, Clean Choice falls short here.

I found it effective for passing a hair follicles drug test for light smokers. But, if you’re a heavy user, this shampoo won’t be enough to help you pass a hair test.

Also, its effectiveness depends on your hair length. The longer the hair, the more application you’ll need to get negative results.

2. Damages the Hair

Woman looking at her hair in the mirrorAfter using Clear Choice hair shampoo, I experienced dry and brittle hair strands.

I mentioned it has ingredients that can help you pass hair follicle tests, but some of them can damage your hair follicles.

For example, methylisothiazolinone can cause eye and dermal irritation [3]. If the shampoo gets in contact with your eyes while washing, sodium sulfate can also irritate the eyes and skin [4].

Methylchloroisothiazolinone is an allergen that can cause flaky and scaly skin, redness, and itching [5].

Clear Choice Shampoo Cons

  • Won’t work as well for long hair
  • Can damage the hair

Comparison to Other Detox Shampoos

Fully Kleen detox alternative product close up image on gray background Here’s how Clear Choice compares to the other best hair detox shampoos on the market.

Clear Choice is the most affordable. It’s priced at $32.36. Folli Kleen is next, at $35.95. Ultra Clean is similarly priced at $34.95, and Old Style is the most expensive at $235.90.

When comparing how they treat your hair, Old Style Aloe comes on top. It can be used with your regular shampoo and conditioner, which means less hair strand damage. Ultra Clean doubles as a shampoo and a conditioner, which is also good for hair quality. Folli Kleen is also fairly damaging, as it’s usually used with the Macujo method.

As for the ease of use, they’re somewhat similar. Old Style Aloe and Ultra Kleen are both easier to use than Clear Choice, as they only have one bottle instead of two. Folli Kleen is the most difficult to use if you use it when doing the Macujo method.
