Materials and ingredients for macujo method
You finally landed your dream job and life’s all sunshine and rainbows. Until, one day, your manager announces a hair follicle testing in 2 weeks.

You start panicking and scouring for ways to cover up your drug use. You stumble upon the Macujo method — seemingly, the most reliable way to pass a hair test. But is it really reliable?

Our experts spent hours upon hours researching it until they got the answer.

What Is the Macujo Method?A woman scrubbing her hair

The Macujo method is a 7-step hair detox method used to eliminate drug chemicals.

It is praised as one of the most reliable ways to pass a hair follicle drug test.

It’s worth noting that the original method is only used for getting rid of traces of THC.

It may not be effective for eliminating traces of a harder drug from your hair.

Ingredients and Materials for the Macujo Method

Here’s everything you’ll need for the Macujo method:

  1. Rubber gloves
  2. Shower cap
  3. White vinegar
  4. Aloe toxin rid shampoo — or an alternative detox shampoo containing salicylic acid
  5. Zydot Ultra Clean shampoo
  6. Warm water

Here’s how to carry out the Macujo method the right way:

  1. Rinse your hair with warm water. Before taking the next step, ensure your hair is damp — not soaking wet.
  2. Apply white vinegar to your hair and scalp as thoroughly as possible.
  3. With rubber gloves on, apply Zydot Ultra Clean shampoo to your hair and scalp the same way you did in step 2.
  4. Keep massaging the shampoo into your hair. Meanwhile, add white vinegar and massage it too. Do this for at least a few minutes.
  5. Put a shower cap on and let the mixture sit on your hair for half an hour.
  6. Rinse your hair thoroughly. Make sure you don’t leave any shampoo residue on your hair or scalp.
  7. Wash your hair with aloe rid shampoo or another detox shampoo of your choice.

That’s it — you’re done.

Hopefully, drug chemicals have been eliminated from your hair. If you do have the time to repeat the process before your hair drug test, by all means, do it.

Will Macujo Method Help You Pass Your Hair Follicle Test?

There’s no scientific evidence that would suggest that the Macujo method will help you pass a hair follicle test. That being said, we have to note that there’s almost no research done on methods of forging a drug test in general.

Therefore, we’ll look at reviews of people who claim they tried this method. From that, we’ll try to conclude whether or not this method is a reliable way to pass a drug test. Keep in mind that we’ll share a few success stories, but it’s possible that some of these reviews are forged.

Does the Macujo Method Work? Here’s What Amazon Reviews Tell UsA woman thinking

Reviews on products used for the Macujo method on Amazon[1] give us some insight into whether this method actually works. We found 70% of reviews to be positive.

Consider this Macujo method review:

“I did 3 Macujo washes total. My last wash was 2 hours before my test. (…) I freaking Passed my test thanks to this product and the Macujo protocol.”

Some people went through the Macujo method more often to ensure they’ll pass their hair drug test:

“After zapping my hair 5 times with the Macujo Method, I can assure you this works”

Other people, however, claim that the Macujo method didn’t help them pass:

“Failed my hair test after cleansing for a month with macujo method”

Others even went as far as calling the Macujo method a scam, and recommended bleaching your hair instead:

“All I can say is I did macujo method 8 times.(…) N i failed Do not waste ur money. Maybe the bleaching of hair may work, but this did not. N i was so sure I was good, but crushed when I got call I didn’t pass. Don’t waste money. Major bleaching might get toxins out of cuticle. I would try that method.”

Overview of Pros and Cons

Here’s an overview of the pros and cons of the Macujo method according to reviews on products used for this method — such as Aloe toxin rid shampoo:

Pros Cons
  • Generally safe to use
  • You’ll have higher chances of passing if you’re a marijuana smoker — people report the Macujo successfully eliminates THC metabolites
  • Easy to conduct
  • Some people reporting minor allergic reactions or hair falling out — probably due to mixing in baking soda
  • It probably doesn’t help with passing hair test if you’ve used a harder drug

As with most hacks for passing drug tests, there’s no consensus on whether the Macujo works or not. However, most people agree that this is one of the safest methods of, potentially, ridding your body of drug toxins.

A word of warning: Don’t add things like baking soda or detergent to the mixture. This could seriously damage your health and may cause hair loss.

What to Expect On Your Hair Follicle Drug Test?A hair and a comb

Many people think that collectors use only hair close to your scalp. This is incorrect.

The only important thing is that the person collecting your hair collects it from the crown of your head.

To avoid leaving a bald spot, they’ll probably cut hair from different areas on the crown of your head.

The collector will cut between 100 and 120 hairs. If you have little or no hair on your head, they may use your body hair.

Note that you can wash your hair, use hair dye, or hair spray without affecting the results of your hair drug test. This begs the question if products like Aloe Rid shampoo or white vinegar can, then, really help you pass.

How Long Do Drugs Stay In Your Hair?

While there’s contradictory information about how long drugs stay in your hair, we know that hair tests can detect drugs for up to 90 days after you’ve taken them. For comparison, a urine test can detect drug metabolites in your system for up to only 30 days.

Alternatives to the Macujo MethodA woman washing her hair

If you’re not convinced that this method can help you pass your hair follicle drug test, you’re not alone. Many people are skeptical and don’t believe this is an effective way of passing drug testing.

That’s why some people developed variations of this method that are supposedly more reliable. Again, these methods aren’t used for urine tests — only for hair follicle drug tests:

  • Jerry G Method

The Jerry G method involves bleaching your hair and then dyeing it to restore your natural hair color. The entire process should be repeated after 10 days.

An obvious drawback of this method is that it dries and damages your hair. This may not sound serious at first, but it is. Bleach can potentially damage your hair to the point that it starts falling out.

  • Mike’s Macujo Method

Here’s the main difference between Mike’s and the original method, based on what Mike himself says[2]:

“The Original Macujo Method only works for the removal of Marijuana, and only for moderate levels of marijuana. It has about a 90% success rate. If you have any other drugs in your hair or have high levels of marijuana in your hair and you can’t risk failing your hair test you must use Mike’s Macujo Method. (…) It also has a better success rate than the original Macujo method for the removal of THC.”

Mike

Essentially, you need to wash your hair with Nexxus Aloe Rid shampoo or a similar aloe toxin rid shampoo. What worries me about this method is that it includes laundry detergent.

Basically, Mike’s advising you to scrub your hair follicles with tide detergent, which I’m not convinced is safe.

But if you decide to use laundry detergent, be careful. Try to rub it only against your hair shaft and not your scalp.

Is the Macujo Method Safe?

Yes, this method is generally safe because you’ll be using safe home remedies such as white vinegar or gentle products like Aloe Rid shampoo.

Can the Macujo Method Really Help You Pass? Here’s What We Think

The Macujo is the most reliable for marijuana users. If you’re using a harder drug, metabolites will probably remain in your hair.

This method is generally safe. It resembles a standard hair cleaning procedure and involves safe materials, such as aloe shampoo, vinegar, and water.

However, users eventually realize that the best way to eliminate drug compounds and toxins from their bodies is to abstain from drug use for at least 3 months before hair tests.

Since this isn’t always possible, the Macujo may be worth a shot.
