Speeding Stop in East Haven Uncovers Major Drug Haul

A routine traffic stop in East Haven led to the arrest of 18-year-old Lebron Jimmy Stevenson, unveiling a significant drug bust.

On September 23, 2024, an officer noticed a black Acura speeding down Laurel Street, blowing through an intersection before turning onto Eldred Drive, a dead-end.

The officer initiated the stop in a cul-de-sac, where clear baggies in plain view raised suspicion.

A closer inspection revealed 72 bags containing 34 grams of crack cocaine, 11 bags with 18 grams of cocaine, and 180 bags holding 61 grams of fentanyl. Authorities also seized $661 in cash.

Stevenson now faces multiple charges, including failure to obey a stop sign, improper use of a marker plate, operating with a suspended license, and several drug-related offenses.

He was released on a $10,000 bond, with a court appearance set for October 2.

This case highlights how even minor traffic stops can lead to major criminal discoveries, reminding us that vigilance is key to community safety.
