Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey is known for his no-nonsense approach, and his recent statement on an unusual drug bust is no exception.
In his latest update, Sheriff Ivey used a mix of humor and stern warning to address the consequences of trying to hide drugs in, as he puts it, a “prison wallet.”
Robert Plummer, a repeat offender, found himself back at the “Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge” after attempting to flee from deputies on his bicycle.
Plummer, already arrested days earlier for resisting officers and attempting to draw a gun, decided to try his luck again.
This time, after resisting arrest, he hid drugs in an unconventional and unhygienic way—inside his body.
When Plummer was brought in for processing at the Brevard County Jail, he defecated on the floor, revealing three baggies of drugs: two with meth and one with cocaine.
Sheriff Ivey didn’t hold back in his advice: “No one wants to ingest drugs that have been up your butt.”
He also emphasized that no matter where someone tries to hide contraband, it will eventually be found during the intake process—either through strip searches or X-ray machines.
Plummer now faces a slew of charges, including two counts of Introduction of Contraband into a Detention Facility, Resisting an Officer with Violence, Possession of Controlled Substances, and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.
In a candid and somewhat comedic conclusion, Sheriff Ivey reminded readers that resisting arrest and attempting to hide drugs in such a manner will only result in “a not-so-nice room with no view” at the jail.
