A second arrest has been made in connection with a September drug bust in Lafourche Parish, where law enforcement uncovered about 120 pounds of marijuana.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest of 26-year-old Talesha Cheramie of Larose, who joins her boyfriend, 23-year-old Jaron Rousse, in custody following a drug trafficking investigation.
Authorities had been tracking Rousse, suspecting he was expecting a large shipment of marijuana.
On September 25, detectives located the delivery truck with the help of K-9 unit Sox and witnessed Rousse allegedly attempting to retrieve the package.
He was taken into custody, and officers seized the marijuana, along with $34,000 in cash.
Rousse is facing multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute marijuana and transactions involving proceeds from controlled substances.
He’s currently held without bond at Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex.
Cheramie, arrested on October 15, has been charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana. Her bail is set at $50,000.
This case highlights ongoing efforts by local authorities to crack down on drug trafficking in the region.
