A 29-year-old Platte woman had her bond revoked after testing positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine during a Davison County court hearing. The woman, Justine Keegel, is also pregnant, as revealed by the same test.
The test came after Judge Chris Giles ordered it during the hearing, citing Keegel’s “erratic behavior” — she repeatedly left and re-entered the courtroom.
Keegel faces charges for possession of methamphetamine, a Class 5 felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class 2 misdemeanor.
Keegel had previously violated the conditions of her personal recognizance bond four times, raising concerns over her compliance with the court’s 24/7 monitoring program.
With the failed drug test and her history of violations, the judge decided to revoke her bond, keeping her in custody until further notice.
Her attorney, Reid Kiner, refrained from commenting on whether Keegel was aware of her pregnancy before the test. Keegel’s trial is set for December.
The case underscores the complex intersections of addiction, legal consequences, and personal struggles that often play out in courtrooms, making it a poignant reminder of the human stories behind the headlines.
