A sweeping narcotics crackdown in Canandaigua has led to the arrest of a 42-year-old man accused of trafficking a staggering volume of illegal substances.

Authorities seized over 9,000 tabs of LSD, multiple pounds of cocaine, and a cocktail of other drugs in what officials call one of the largest drug seizures in the Finger Lakes region.

Jeffrey R. Johnson was taken into custody Monday and charged with first- and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, Ontario County Sheriff David J. Cirencione confirmed.

The arrest followed a months-long probe into a cocaine distribution network operating in and around Canandaigua.

Johnson’s apprehension came when law enforcement stopped his vehicle as he exited the New York State Thruway at Exit 43, Manchester-Palmyra.

Acting swiftly, deputies executed multiple search warrants between Monday night and Tuesday, uncovering a stockpile of illicit drugs:

  • 3.3 pounds of cocaine
  • 9,108 tabs of LSD
  • 6 pounds of marijuana
  • 6.7 pounds of mushrooms (suspected Psilocybin)
  • 3.5 pounds of ketamine
  • 27.9 ounces of MDMA
  • 92 ecstasy pills

Authorities also seized $6,879 in cash, suspected to be tied to the drug trade. Sheriff Cirencione indicated that the investigation remains active and additional arrests may follow.

Johnson was arraigned in Ontario County CAP Court on Tuesday and is being held without bail at the Ontario County Jail as prosecutors prepare their next move.

Law enforcement officials emphasize that dismantling drug networks like this one is critical to curbing the region’s illicit drug flow, calling the seizure a major win in the fight against narcotics distribution.
