Last Updated On: October 11, 2024

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office will participate in the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 26.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., residents can safely dispose of outdated, unwanted, or unneeded prescription medications at the MCSO office on Broad Street in Columbia.

Accepted items include tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid prescription drugs. Liquids, such as cough syrup, will also be accepted, provided they remain in their original, sealed containers to prevent leaks.

However, the Sheriff’s Office will not accept syringes, needles, “sharps,” or illicit drugs.

This event offers residents an opportunity to responsibly dispose of medications and help prevent misuse.
