K9 Unit Uncovers Drugs and Ghost Gun in Routine Visalia Traffic Stop

A routine traffic stop on Saturday night led to the arrest of two men and the discovery of a ghost gun, Visalia Police reported.

The incident occurred just after 11:00 p.m. when the Special Enforcement Unit pulled over a vehicle at the intersection of Ben Maddox Way and St. John’s Parkway.

Officer Branderhorst, alongside his K9 partner Maui, conducted a search of the vehicle. Maui, using his sharp instincts, quickly detected the presence of narcotics, leading officers to further investigate.

Upon searching the car, authorities found two men, 48-year-old Eduardo Flores and 32-year-old Christopher Barajas, in possession of illegal substances.

But that wasn’t all—the search also turned up a loaded P80 ghost gun, fitted with a full-auto switch, adding a dangerous twist to the discovery.

Both men now face charges related to drugs and firearms and were taken into custody at the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility.

The quick thinking of the officers and the keen nose of Maui ensured a potentially hazardous situation didn’t escalate further.
