Two men were arrested in a drug bust in Jackson County, following a routine patrol that quickly escalated into a significant discovery.
On September 23, 2024, a Jackson County deputy located Jarred Mortenson, 34, who was wanted on an active civil bench warrant. The encounter occurred at a Black River Falls residence, according to the sheriff’s office.
What started as a simple arrest soon turned into something bigger. A K-9 search of the vehicle unearthed suspected heroin, marijuana, U.S. currency, and a firearm.
The passenger, Thomas English, 43, was also taken into custody. English now faces charges for possession of drugs with intent to deliver and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Both men are currently held in Jackson County Jail and are awaiting further legal proceedings. This bust serves as a stark reminder that routine stops can unveil much more beneath the surface.
