Houston authorities have dismantled a methamphetamine operation, seizing nearly 400 pounds of the drug valued at around $2 million.
The raid, which took place in a duplex on Veteran’s Memorial Drive, uncovered 80 gallons of liquid meth and 31 kilograms of the substance, shutting down the operation.
“These labs are like ticking time bombs—ready to explode and claim innocent lives,” said Daniel Comeaux, DEA Special Agent in Charge.
This bust is one in a series of recent successes, with law enforcement arresting two men linked to a Mexican cartel.
Sebastian Valencia, 33, and Abraham Hernandez, 34, both from Michoacan, Mexico, face charges of intent to deliver over 400 grams of meth.
According to Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg, the court will hear their case on Thursday.
Ogg highlighted meth’s role in fueling local crime, stating, “It traps users in addiction, driving them to violence and crime.”
She emphasized the ongoing investigation, promising to uncover further cartel connections. “Our work doesn’t end here. We’re determined to trace the source of these drugs.”
Meth, often mixed with fentanyl, is highly addictive and deadly.
Ogg noted its devastating impact, describing the drug trade as a “black-market industry that kills.” She warned that the cheap, potent high meth offers comes at a fatal price.
Comeaux urged parents to remain vigilant. “Parents need to be aware—drug dealers are just a tap away on their kids’ phones. It’s vital to monitor their online activity to keep them safe,” he said.
