In a recent operation, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) raided a Spring Hill home, uncovering drugs, firearms, body armor, and a ballistic shield labeled “police.”

The raid, executed at 6154 Ashland Drive with the support of the HCSO SWAT team, was the result of months of investigation.

Upon the deputies’ arrival, 48-year-old Steven Cline attempted to flee through the back of the house but was quickly apprehended at a neighbor’s property.

Cline, identified as a known gang member with 14 felony convictions, now faces charges including resisting arrest without violence, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, and multiple drug-related charges, including methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine possession.

Investigators reported that Cline had obtained the ballistic shield and body armor through a drug trade.

The search warrant was part of an extended investigation involving multiple traffic stops at the residence and methamphetamine trafficking arrests.

In addition to Cline, two others were arrested. Ashley Dawn Cline, 37, was charged with violating drug offender probation and several drug possession charges.

Darrell Floyd Kearce, 52, was arrested for marijuana possession and possession of paraphernalia.

HCSO’s ongoing efforts aim to tackle drug and criminal activity in the community, focusing on organized crime rings like the one tied to this investigation.
