Bam Margera Awaits Court-Ordered Drug and Alcohol Evaluation After DUI Arrest

Former “Jackass” star Bam Margera, 44, remains in custody after being arrested for driving under the influence in Pennsylvania.

A Chester County judge ruled Monday that Margera must undergo a medical evaluation before determining his release.

Margera’s arrest by Pennsylvania State Police last week, for DUI and reckless driving, violates the terms of his six-month probation.

The probation was part of a June sentencing, following a plea deal for disorderly conduct. In April 2023, Margera had a heated altercation at his Pocopson home, “Castle Bam,” where he allegedly struck his brother and made threats.

Although Margera’s legal team requested his immediate transfer to rehab, Judge Patrick Carmody ruled that a drug and alcohol evaluation must be completed first.

Prosecutors noted that Margera’s blood alcohol content during his arrest was nearly double the legal limit.

The evaluation, set for Tuesday, will guide the court’s decision on whether Margera will remain jailed for up to six months or be released to a rehabilitation facility.

Margera’s attorney, Michael van der Veen, expressed optimism, stating that Margera has passed all previous drug and alcohol screenings over the last year and expects his release soon.

Margera himself shared that the arrest came during a solo road trip—his first since his probation began, and notably without his wife, Danielle Marie.
