Abbeville Drug Operation Leads to Two Arrests, Over $30,000 in Marijuana Seized

A coordinated drug investigation in Abbeville culminated in the arrest of two men, Kabien Wright and Azaylon Boudreaux, on multiple drug and firearm-related charges, according to local authorities.

Wright, 20, faces charges including possession with intent to distribute marijuana and synthetic marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and firearm offenses.

Boudreaux, 23, has been charged with obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

The arrests follow weeks of surveillance by the Vermilion Municipal and Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force.

Officers secured search warrants for two vehicles on Dutel Street after observing suspicious activity.

When law enforcement approached, Boudreaux reportedly attempted to flee, discarding narcotics in the process, but was apprehended after a brief chase.

Wright, the owner of the vehicles, was taken into custody on-site.

A search of the vehicles uncovered 3.5 pounds of marijuana, valued at approximately $32,000, along with a loaded AK-47. No bond information was available at the time of reporting.
