In a sweeping drug bust dubbed “Operation Last Supper,” eight men were arrested in Santa Rosa County, culminating a three-year investigation.
The operation, which took place between Sept. 17 and 24, resulted in multiple federal charges for drug trafficking and conspiracy.
Among those arrested were David “Preacher” Kennedy, 41, and Roosevelt “Tawn” Jones, 52, both facing serious federal charges.
Authorities allege they conspired to distribute over 500 grams of cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana.
Kennedy is said to be the leader of this drug network, with Jones positioned just beneath him in the hierarchy.
The operation seized a staggering amount of narcotics and weapons: 5.6 kilos of cocaine, 67 grams of fentanyl, 521 grams of meth, and nearly 8 pounds of marijuana, alongside over $64,000 in drug-related cash and eight firearms.
Sheriff Bob Johnson, speaking at a press conference, emphasized that the arrests mark a significant win for law enforcement.
“Kennedy has been on our radar since the ’90s,” Johnson stated, referencing his time in the narcotics division.
He added that Kennedy could face up to 11 years behind bars, while Jones may serve 21-27 years if convicted, due to prior offenses.
The bust was a collaborative effort involving local and federal agencies, including the DEA, FDLE, U.S. Postal Service, and the Florida Highway Patrol.
The dismantling of this operation marks a critical blow to the drug trade in the region.
