In a sweeping six-month investigation targeting two housing complexes in Wyoming Valley, around 30 individuals have been charged in a multi-phase drug crackdown.

Law enforcement agencies from Luzerne County, backed by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, executed a major bust on Thursday at Hilltop and Eagle Ridge Apartments.

Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce revealed that 16 suspects were arrested and arraigned by District Justice Joseph Spagnuolo, later being held at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.

This marks the fifth phase of the operation, which has already led to nine arrests, with seven individuals still at large.

Those apprehended face charges related to the distribution of a range of illicit substances, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana.

Chief Kotchik added that the arrests unveiled significant organizational activity, including the seizure of firearms, narcotics, and cash.

However, officials acknowledge that the fight against drug trafficking in Luzerne County is far from over.

“This bust is a major dent in the drug problem we’re facing, but there’s still more work ahead,” noted Sanguedolce, signaling a continued effort to clean up the community.
